google meet personal accounts

The Google meet is a tool used by G-suite subscribers for a while now, while access to hangout was maintain on personal gmail accounts. Google has decided to tap into this lock-down period to make virtual activities more seamless. With the roll out of Google Meet, the tech giant plans to take on Zoom, the video conferencing platform that became increasingly popular during the lock-down.

Anyone who has a Gmail account can sign up and start a video call at meet.google.com, for free. “To make meetings even more accessible and helpful, in the coming days you’ll also be able to use Meet directly in Gmail,” the Google blog read.

Here’s how you can start a video meeting on Google Meet app:

—Download the Meet app from PlayStore or AppStore.

—After opening the app, tap on the plus icon to start a meeting or enter a meeting code, if you have been invited to join by some other user.

— Fill all the necessary details and Tap on the Join Meeting option given there.

—Schedule meetings by opening the Google Calendar app.

The new Google Meet has some advanced features like scheduling and sharing screen, real-time captions, and layouts that you can choose as per your requirement, an expanded tiled view—that gives a better view of the people connected through the app.
